Final countdown to A Night at The Oskars in Breaffy
Breaffy Oskars Fundraiser next Friday night, May 11 next will see the great and the good of Breaffy strut their stuff down the red carpet for our gala premiere. Over 70 locals star in seven iconic films recorded on location in the area in recent weeks.
And the fruits of their labour will be on display in the Breaffy House Events Arena on Friday night with the action getting underway at 8pm sharp.
The seven films remade with a Breaffy twist are The Field, The Snapper, The Shawshank Redemption, Sister Act, Fatal Attraction, Forrest Gump and The Full Monty.
The films will be ten minute versions of the classic movies and hotly contested Best Actor, Best Actress and supporting roles Oskars will be up for grabs on the night.
Six Mayo and Breaffy football stars are among actors bidding for glory.
The three O’Shea brothers – Seamie, Aidan and Conor – together with Rob Hennelly, Michael Hall and Matthew Ruane are all performing in the Oskars. Any Mayo fans fearful of that the players will be on the red carpet can rest assured. The players will be far away from the paparazzi on the night and tucked up in their beds ahead of Sunday week’s clash with Galway.
The scenes were all shot during the month of April with the six county players all doing their bit for their club during the month set aside for club activity.
The films were professionally casted, filmed and directed by Kevin Rowe Events.
Three time All Star Aidan O’Shea is one of the cast in the iconic 90s film The Full Monty. Aidan plays the role of Horse.
Seamie O’Shea, part of the Mayo team who have battled with the Dubs for years, will play a Dub himself in The Snapper.
The youngest O’Shea brother, Conor, is well-known for his mimicry skills and has landed a lead role in the gripping Fatal Attraction, playing the role of Dan Gallagher. All-Ireland Minor and U-21 winning Mayo footballer Matthew Ruane also features as Jimmy in Fatal Attraction.
Mayo footballers Michael Hall and Rob Hennelly will channel the hard training sessions they’ve endured in recent years to play the Drill Sergeant and Lieutenant Dan respectively in Forrest Gump.
Among those taking on big roles include Padraic Costello who will play The Bull McCabe in iconic The Field; Ciarán Reddington who will play Gaz in hilarious The Full Monty; Leanne McManamon plays the lead as Sharon Curley in brilliant The Snapper; Niamh Mulchrone and Sandra Bourke will play Beth Gallagher and Alex Forest respectively in the riveting Fatal Attraction.
Stephanie Cassol plays Dolores in the laugh out loud Sister Act with Rob Holloway playing the one and only Forrest Gump. Steve Jordan (Andy Dufresne) and David Veal (Ellis ‘Red’ Redding) play the main roles in the legendary Shawshank Redemption.
