Breaffy Senior Team Crowned Division 1A Champions
Breaffy men’s senior team ended their season on a high after being crowned Mayo Senior Football League Division 1A champions for 2017 with a 1-11 to 0-12 win over Knockmore on Sunday morning.
After trailing by six points to one mid-way through the first half, a goal from Liam Irwin sparked Breaffy into life and we went in and half time trailing by just a solitary point.
A strong second half showing where we outscored the men from North Mayo six points to three was enough to see Breaffy past the winning post and to the top of the league table.
Following the trophy presentation by Sean McHale, our captain Aidan O’Shea delivered an emotional speech in which he paid tribute to Faye Lavin and dedicated the trophy to the memory of David Gavin.
